Service manual for Roland Space Echo?

Service manual for Roland Space Echo?

Hi there,

Just ran across an old Roland tape echo called RE-501. It's one of
their last and most advanced in the Space Echo series. It works and
sounds great EXCEPT for the built in spring reverb - which in fact
doesn't sound at all.

So I want to fix it - and now I'm googling and reading up on most
everything published anywhere.

FIRST: Does anybody have the Service Manual for Roland echos?

The error seems to be on the signal coming in to the echo. Tapping the
box gently with the reverb maxed does give me the classic reverb-
sounds/noise. But any guitarsignal coming in is totally dry.

Maxing the reverb knob (without tapping) doesn' change the guitar
sound a bit. Absolutely no reverb, and no noise!

I have some but limited soldering skills. I might ask a more
knowledgeable person, that is the tech fixing my guitar amp, about the
spring reverb - but... oh well, money is money and learning is fun.

Any ideas, input, for DIY-repair and troubleshooting is most welcome!

Thanks,

Carl

Hi again,

I got the schematic from a helpful soul over at rec.audio.pro - but if
anyone has more input and tips to offer I'd be a happy receiver.

Cheers,

Carl

I had one of them. Sold it as is on Ebay two years ago for over
$200. Picked it up at a yard sale for next to nothing around 10 years ago.
