why is it that...
why is it that...
...the same people that will sit behind a 45 MPH truck for years on a
two lane road seem to have no problem passing a slightly slower cyclist
on a bike path while you're in full sprint mode uphill coming at them in
the opposite direction?

They view a bike path as a sidewalk and they view sidewalks as not
having any keep right obligations at all.
Just one of the many reasons I don't like bike paths.

Several days ago, I was riding up a road (somewhat gradual hill) at
about 15 mph. There's some construction going on up ahead on the left.
I see a cement truck pulling out and take a left turn. Surprisingly,
I was gaining on it. Not too long after that, three cars pass me and
catch up to the cement truck. All three of them are content to stay
behind the truck (which is going slower than I am). I catch up with the
line of vehicles, and proceed to pass all of them on the left.
Had I been driving, I would have passed both the cyclist and the cement
truck, but I guess most drivers are too stupid to figure out how to pass
when the opportunity presents itself (or when they're not supposed to pass).
