Open letter to drivers

Open letter to drivers

Dear DC area fuckw^H^H^H^H^Hdriver,

Your vehicle is not equipped with directional signals on its side.
Therefore, when you are planning on forcing your way in front of me, I
have no indication whatsoever of your intentions unless I can actually
see the lights with which your vehicle *is* equipped. Please keep this
in mind and pull far enough in front of my car that I can actually see
your rear light cluster.

Thank you for your cooperation.

nate

PS - A green light is traditionally a signal to proceed forward.
PPS - There is a difference between the different lanes of a freeway.
Please feel free to respond if you require an explanation.

...although there's no good reason why it shouldn't be. Mercedes and
a few others had that feature when I was knee-high to a spare tire,
and some of today's vehicles have an IMHO better implementation --
hidden behind the face of, or better yet built into the outboard edge
of, the mirrors.

Of course, that doesn't mean there's time and room for the maneuver
being signaled. They still have to think far enough ahead to
identify and get into a suitable gap, and this is beyond some
drivers.

Many of whom use the turn signal more as a victory dance than as an
announcement or request, anyway. (If they use it at all, and if they
have checked in recent years to see if its bulbs have burned out...)

I'm not talking about those people, I'm talking about people who wish
to change lanes in heavy traffic when no gap exists, who are using
their signals as a request for someone to open a gap for them. Seems
to be happening to me more and more recently, car will draw abreast of
me or slightly ahead, driver wishes to change lanes in front of me so
flips on signal. What he doesn't realize is that his signal is hidden
by my A-pillar and or driver's door so he thinks I'm blocking him out,
then moves over forcing me to brake hard, when I finally see that he's
had his signal on. Usually accompanied by a hand gesture that I
assume means "you're number one!"

Of course, I don't have any other cues that they're wishing to change
lanes, as this generally happens when there's a whole mess of lanes of
traffic all moving in the same direction at about the same (slow)
speed.

Doesn't bother me so much as long as there's room for them to move in
front of me. I've had people cut me off without signalling at all
with only inches to spare...

And then of course there's the jackasses that will wait until the last
possible moment to exit, because through traffic is moving faster than
the exit that splits off to the right, so they'll stay in the
rightmost through lane until they're almost to the gore and then stop
dead and sit there with their blinker on until some "nice" person lets
them in. Despite the fact that the split was signed 3/4 of a mile
back. Oh for a hood mounted RPG launcher. I usually get stuck behind
at least 2-3 of these assholes every day as in the specific location
I'm thinking of I want to take the very next exit after the split so
I'm also in the rightmost through lane.

I guess you've never done that...?

Now THAT'S funny!

A guess at your IQ, possibly...?

Cue Scott and/or Brent to explain how they know what is going through
the minds of their fellow drivers.

Perhaps you can devise a signal for drivers to indicate they wish for
the driver to their front to increase their distance of precedence.

Other than that, the solution seems completely out of reach.

Damn those "sloths", always fucking up traffic.

No, no I haven't, because even that alone, even if done "correctly" is
rude and a sign of poor driving or situational awareness.

The rest of your troll spew was ignored, unread, and will continue to
be treated in a similar manner from here on out unless/until you can
start posting something 1) relevant and 2) intelligent.

Never...?!

Said the guy who won't leave a gap large enough to comfortably
accommodate a single vehicle.

> The rest of your troll spew was ignored, unread,

Occam's Razor suggests you're either so stupid you think a simple
question is "troll spew", or you're lying.

No, wait, it suggests both.

Boo hoo.

Beyond posting any drivel you consider driving expertise, your further
participation is no longer required.

Here we see your pitiful attempt at ad hominem, then further avoidance
of any relevant issue.

Not your fault, huh?

Except you...?

> Your act is stale. No fish are biting today.

Except you...?!

Does the irony of "fish" responding to a troll's troll to call
"Troll!" escape you?

I guess we see things differently. When I see a fish respond to a
troll with "Troll!", I see an idiot who is either lying, they don't
consider the "accused" a troll, or they're too stupid to put the troll
in their killfile.

You seem to see it as a witty and insightful riposte.

C'est la vie.

AAR, you seem confused. The point is not to elicit responses, it's
just to illuminate that you do not know shit about driving and often
blame others for the "problems" you experience that are mostly of your
own making.

For an example of how to discourage people from changing lanes too
close to your front for comfort while driving in slow traffic see:
* video.google . com /videoplay?docid'93026662356344647

Again, after your initial post your participation becomes completely
unnecessary, I'll take it from there. Then, what else really needs to
be said?

Ad hominem, changing/avoiding the subject... those aren't effective
arguments so I don't see why you even bother.

No, not even I. I find it hard to believe that even you take the crap
you post seriously, it's so ludicrously nonsensical. Which prompts the
question, why bother?

(rest skipped, unread.)

many newer vehicles DO have side turn signals....some on the outside
rearview mirrors, that are visible from the side, front and rear.

Often, you can tell a car is going to change lanes because they drift/edge
over, and maybe the driver is checking their rear view mirror(but not
looking to their immediate left or right! Particularly SUVs and PU's.)

Of course, the presence of turn signals on a vehicle does not mean that
they will be used.
