Why Are Southwest Seats Staggered

Anyone know why the seats on Southwest Air planes are staggered? From the
layout it seems as if they could have lined them up if they wanted to.
During deplaning, the stagger does make it easy to determine which row is
next to leave, but that can't be the reason why they did it, can it?

I haven't been on such a plane, but it looks like a good idea to me (fewer
collisions when exiting, easier to access overhead bins).

Have you ever watched "Airline"?
If so, then you will know that WN passengers love to drink.
WN passengers are used to staggering.

There is another reason, but that is too easily found.
