Headphone Problem

My daughter had a pair of Sony headphones that I used one way and she
used the other on AirTran flights. It would repeatedly revert to a
different XM station and the station couldn't be changed unless the
headphones were unplugged and then plugged in again. The handout
headphones worked fine.
Why would they do this and will it do it on other planes? We are going
to Europe this summer and I was planning to get some but there's no
point if this will continue to happen.

I have no idea. Solve the problem buy traveling with an iPod that has
your favorite music.

Wouldn't help with the movie though.

Sure it would. Load a movie onto an iPod video to watch, instead of the
dreadful movie the airline is bound to play.

I don't have one and I haven't been particularly impressed by the
longevity of iPods nor Apple's service based on my daughter's
experience and what I've heard from others.

I'm also 60 and watching a movie on that size screen doesn't thrill
me.

Huh? Most decent airlines play current release movies. You just select
one to suit your tastes.

You should have the headphones replaced if this really happened.

It happened. They are hers and work fine otherwise.

I take it that this is an unusual occurrence?

I wouldn't what it to happen again if I bought headphones.

I wasn't suggesting that you buy new headphones. I was suggesting you
complain about these headphones and get them replaced.
