Would the airline (Airtran) see that I have a one way ticket back in

the initial flight?
I did basically the same thing with the same airline in February.
I booked two one way flights on AirTran.
I knew the exact date on the return and got a great 59 dollar Fare
(atl-mco)
So I booked that.
Now the problem was I didn't know when I was to get to ATL until the
day before.
The one way fares were 280 dollars at that time....so I looked further
and Atlanta is a AirTran hub, so I looked at one way specials that
went thru ATL on their site.
I found one to another east coast destination that had a layover in
ATL of 3 hours and it was only 119 dollars.
I took it since I had only carryon luggage.
So the key is to NOT have checked in luggage.
I just did not show up for the ATL to The other destination.
I had no trouble at all.
