Does National offer a shuttle from FLL to Port Everglades?

Hi all

My wife was able to get us a rental car via Priceline through National
in Fort Lauderdale for just $15 + taxes and fees. Just wondering if
National offers a shuttle from the Airport to Port Everglades? If not
I guess we can take cab, but know that some like Hertz do and if
avialable would use it.

John

You may be able to drop off at Port Everglades without a drop-off charge.
In the San Francisco area, you can drop off any of the major rental agencies
cars at any airport with no additional charge.

Budget, Avis and Hertz all allowed it.

So, if I request a quote on a weekend rate from SJC to SFO, renting on
Friday and returning on Sunday or Monday, the rates will be the same?

I know that the drop fee isn't always labeled as a drop fee, they
sometimes just charge a higher rate.

For my test, I went to the Hertz website. I checked for 4/13 5pm to 4/15
5pm. I did not log in and specified "none" for affiliations. The
midsize rate for SJC-SJC was 30.99 per weekend day, with an estimated
total of $81.09
I then changed it to SJC-SFO. The rate went to $60.99 per day, with an
estimated total of $154.75. Note, this is without any discounts.

Hi Mike,

With most major Florida rental agencies, (Florida is the subject of
the post not CA), has for at least the last 25 years allowed you to
rent at the lowest rate and drop at any other Florida location.

Give them a call. I always get a corporate rate, and was told years ago,
that there is no drop off charge at any of the airports.

I don't have to give them a call. I know, from experience, they have
higher rates for dropping off at SFO if I pick up in San Jose, if not
using a corporate rate that charges the same daily rate. Do you think
the website is wrong about the rate differences? The vast majority of
people reading this do not have corporate rates that would give them no
charge for drop offs.

I was told that there is no drop off charges, did not concern the corporate
rate.

Right. There was no fee listed as a "drop off fee". They simply charged
almost double for the rental. Same car, about $30 more per day plus tax
on a 2 day week end rentalif I dropped it at SFO instead of bringing it
back to SJC. But, you are correct, there was no "drop fee"

Hi Mike,

Why do you keep talking about California rentals? The subject is
specific to S. Florida.

Are you following the thread? If so, why no comments to the person who
started the CA conversation?
I was responding to someone who indicated that there was no extra charge
for dropping off cars at other airports int he SF Bay Area.

Then you could take a cab from the National to the Hertz lot.
They prob'ly think you were one of their customers. Or, you
could pick up a phone and call the National office to ask. =R=

Thanks Jeff

My wife did e-mail National which I had not thought of and their reply
was as follows.

"Thank you for your email.

Our Florida locations listed below provide free shuttle service to and
from
the cruiseship piers:

In Ft Lauderdale (Port Everglades), it is available every day between
8 am
to 3 pm in 25 minutes intervals. All rental transactions are
processed at
the airport facility. Please make your reservation for pick up and
return
to FLLP05 and proceed to the designated car rental pickup location at
the
port. In Tampa (Tampa Harbor), it is available during the cruise ship
onloading and offloading times by calling 813-396-3783. In Cocoa
Beach
(Port Canaveral), we do not provide any shuttle service to our rental
counter. You must provide your own transportation and you will not be
reimbursed. We do not have a pick up service for the Port of Miami."
