How many airports in Houston - Texas

Reply from: arouth@radiology.umsmed.edu

Greetings! How many airports are in Houston - Texas and which is the
main one? I can see the initial of two airports - IAH and QHO. I want
to know which airport the international flights use like going to
Japan or Mexico or Europe? It seems that IAH will be the main airport.
I may be wrong. With thanks.

The two main airports in houston, TX are George Bush International,
IAH, and Houston, Hobby (HOU).

IAH is the one serving international destinations. HOU does only
domestic.

IAH is the international airport in Houston, officially named George Bush
Intercontinental Airport.

The other is William P. Hobby, which mostly handles flights within Texas,
and to and from adjacent states. Southwest is the major airline at Houston
Hobby.

HOU, the old Hobby airport South of the City is a "Hublet" for WN, a non hub
airline, with more than its share of long distance domestic flights (because
DAL remains restricted) and a load of flights within Texas. There's some
modest AA, CO flying and maybe a DL or two still...

IAH is the major, modest European service and a CO's principal hub (with
many RJs) to various Mexican markets, and most all the legacies to various
of their hubs. I know of no direct/non-stops to the Orient but there may
be....

The two main airports are IAH (George Bush Intercontinental - North of town)
and HOU (Hobby Airport - South of downtown). The international flights go
out of IAH. Southwest has a major operation at Hobby, and there are some
other carriers there as well, including ATA, AirTran, some American and
Delta flights, etc.
