I had a connection at CDG last May and even though the plane in was on time
and we had 90 minutes, it was close. We had to go from Terminal 2C to 2B
and there was a mob waiting for the inter-terminal busses (which are regular
type busses capable of handling maybe 50 passengers, having to cope with
maybe 1,000 people.

If you're flying into London, going into Heathrow and out of Gatwick
shouldn't be a problem. I would suggest that alternative before the CDG
connection, but that's just my best guess.

Two general things to avoid.

Always give the full address when getting transport.
Otherwise you may land up in Liverpool not Liverpool Street,
or Gloucester instead of Gloucester Road.
There was a story in yesterday's paper about a school group
relying on sat-nav and going to the wrong Hampton Court.
London has a couple of dozen Church Streets, so you would
need to know which one.

When writing dates always spell out the months in letters, then
you won't book for 9/8 but be expected on 8/9

And if you are American and you need directions it is better not to stay in
Gloucester Road or near Leicester Square. :)
