Well, you've already been berated for comparing apples and
oranges so
I'll leave that be for the time being. But even beyond that, I think
you'll
find this general effect is true in any similar context. Domestic/
short haul
"First class" is always a bit of a pale with respect to longer haul
version.
Truth is you'll find a similar effect on trains. On relatively short
haul,
low speed trains, I've often been advised by europeans not to bother
with first class seats.

This, I think, is where there is some legitimate complaint left on
this
topic. One has always been paying predominately for the room/comfort
with a "first class ticket" and the rest of the perks were just that,
perks for having paid so much for a ticket. Most domestic airlines
in
the US long ago changed the name of their forward sections to
"business
class" partially to admit to the distinction between truly first class
seating
and what was selling on the short haul routes.

Even of the same airline.
One thing to consider however is that other than the truly long haul,
transcontinental flights in the US, you are on short haul routes
as compared to other parts of the world. There are asian and
airlines that have little if any "short haul" in their structure and
so don't really have a reason to differentiate between their
short haul FC and their longer distance international product.
