Probably summed up in the little ditty

"This is my rifle, this is my gun.
This one's for fighting, and this one's for fun."

Almost a direct quote from Uris's "Battle Cry".

Here comes good ole Dave Smith again. I guess he would have been
totally comfortable on that flight.

Well, let's see here. An unstable Pilot. Probibly no replacement
Pilot at short notice. Money lost on the flight, Reembursing all
passengers, a plane sitting idle. Yup!!! They cancelled the flight
because they're shitheads. No doubt about it.

Not over bad language, but over the state of mind that the use of such
language and the outburst of such emotion might suggest for the pilot.

It was more than just "bad language", it was because of the emotional
instability of the pilot. When you are
flying a giant bird, and have to be ready for just about any
emergency, you can't be an emotional wreck.
The airline did the right thing, as crazy as it might seem.

I know this was an isolated incident, but hassles like this is making
train travel much more attractive.
Infact, train travel makes far more sense in areas where cities are
close together anyway. (Los Angeles/
Vegas/San Fransisco/San Diego would be perfect for this. So would the
northeast).

With high-speed trains, that would be even more true. Very high speed trains
in Europe have cut deeply into airline business, because they make trips of
less than 1000 km or so faster by train than by plane, and with far, far less
hassle. The trains are also city center to city center, and you just step on
and off, without any waiting, boarding lines, delays, cancellations, or
two-hour commutes between the airport and the city each way.

True.. The only downside is that the high-speed trains often cost more
than traveling by air!

Where? In France they are somewhat cheaper, last time I checked.

Also in France, high-speed trains have nearly wiped out air travel on some
routes. A train can get you from Paris to Lyons in under two hours, downtown
to downtown. In comparison, just coming into Paris from the suburbs in a car
can take longer than that, and flying between the cities can easily take four
hours or more, because of the huge amounts of time required to get to and from
airports, waiting in lounges, boarding delays, etc.

As a result, practically no one flies between Paris and Lyons these days,
indeed, when the first high-speed trains started, air travel between the
cities dropped by 50% in the first month alone. And the train service is so
fast and reliable that some people live in one city and work in another, even
though they are further apart than Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

You live in a different world than most people, who would be extremely
offended if a pilot, flight attendant or anyone else were gratuitously
rude to them. Perhaps the Internet has sent you into a different time
warp.

That's DEAD WRONG. Courtesy, and concern for the sensibilities of
others, are what "make the

Somehow, I can't see the basic sense or intelligence or
levelheadedness, or whatever, in people who can't discern a difference
between what crazy people might do and what normal people might do,
think or feel if confronted by a pilot, flight attendant, hotel clerk,
bus driver, attorney, cleaning woman or other who curses at them and
treats them like dirt.
