Gearshift indicator lights burned out

In case this helps somebody...

Occasionally people post saying one or more of their automatic transmission
gear selector lights isn't working.

I had originally thought these lights were LEDs soldered to a crcuit board
and were not replaceable. Well today I discovered I was wrong. Those little
lights ARE replaceable.

First you need to remove the gauge cluster from the car. At the rear of the
cluster there will be a flat white box held on with two screws. Once that's
off you see the white box is made of two halves nested together and held by
clips. With the two halves separated, you can grab the electrical connector
and lift the circuit board out of the white box.

Each of the little bulbs are mounted in long rubber boots that push onto
two large pins that are part of the circuit board. Each bulb has two very
long, slender wires which are threaded through the rubber boot and are
pressed against the large pins. Carefully pull the boot/bulb assembly off
the pin, unthread the wires, remove the bulb, and thread another bulb
through the very same way. Pretty neat, actually.

If you go to a U-Pull wrecking yard and obtain one of the white boxes (for
maybe $5), you will have enough spare bulbs to last a lifetime.
