56 ford disc brake conversion

56 ford disc brake conversion

I have heard that 77-80 lincoln Versailles spindles and calipers will
fit on a 56 fairlane without any machine work, is this true? If so
will it lower the front of the car as well? If not, are there any
donor cars that would be better or could be used for this purpose? I'm
having a problem finding solid and definite info about this.

Here's an article for sale on ebaymotors, com that shows how to add disk
brakes to your 56 Ford - cheap!

Here's someone selling a budget kit for your car. Basically he's done the
homework and made the caliper bracket, spacers,etc..

Save yourself lots of time and headaches and go with the kit. In the long
run, it'll cost less.

So, I guess you don't know about interchangable spindles? I was
under the impression there were some. I had the understanding they
also would lower the front 2 inches. Do you have any leads about
where I could go to find such info?

I came up blank on the interchangeable spindles that you were looking for.

I used to have a magazine that had all the interchangeability information
about Ford products. I may have tossed it, but will give a look.
