CART is inferior to IRL.

CART No longer exists. Get with the program. It's 2007.

Yep. That was the stuff back then. Unfortunately neither series is
anywhere these days.

Yep. Then TG split open wheel and that ended the sport.

I bet he made a ton of cash in the last 10 years though.

In his case, cash is much less important than ego.

SO he didn't make a killing from the split? In that case the guy is a real
wanker. Disgusting to think that CART's future was in the hands of one man.

TG ruined open wheel in his efforts to control the sport. He divided
the teams and divided the fans. His ego didn't need an infusion of cash.

Nor has it received one. The last estimate I heard which was over

But the damage to open wheel racing as a result of the split cannot be
measured in just dollars that TG has spent chasing his ego. It goes to
the roots of racing - its fans.

I can think of no sport where the fans have been so turned away from a
sport except for possibly the loss of baseball fan interest after the
player's strike. There was a strong recovery from the baseball strike,
but IMO, not back to baseball's earlier popularity. With open wheel,
its been over ten years since the split and the sport has not shown
signs of recovering back to a fraction of its earlier popularity. The
Indy 500 typifies the problem. Such is the impact of the TG ego split.

I don't think it matters to anybody in the IRL. The important thing
from the IRL viewpoint is to punish those that separated from USAC to
form CART. Nothing else matters until CART is completely destroyed.
Even at the expense of the sport.

I've heard upwards of 300m

Plus, 30m to set up the F1 track, what's the yearly F1 sanctioning
fee? 10M?

Talk about pissing up a rope.

So, the old saying goes:

How do you make a small fortune in racing?
