"Andretti Runs Strong at Jerez" - Speed TV

In only his second day and time in both an F1 car and at
Jerez, Marco Andretti , the 19 year old phenom, and future
superstar who very nearly won the Indy 500 in his rookie
year at the age of 18, acquitted himself remarkably well.
Marco, winner at last year's race at Sonoma and the IRL
and Indy 500 Rookie of the Year, was less than a second
and a half slower (and well under a tenth of a second behind
Klien's time yesterday) in the afternoon damp, in an obsolete
ride and in considerably fewer laps, than the team's veteran
driver in the current car during his dry, morning run. Overall,
nothing short of a positively astonishing performance!

From the pro, IRL series rival - Speed TV:
"F1: Massa Leads, Andretti Runs Strong at Jerez"
"This Tuesday also marked Marco Andretti's second-ever
Formula 1 test, with the IndyCar Series regular manning
last year's RA106 for Honda. Andretti completed 74 laps
to end up last in the 16-car field, but made measurable
progress as he ended up just 1.5s off the pace of teammate
Jenson Button, who covered 100 laps in the new RA107."

From itv SPORT:
The young IndyCar star did a solid job on his second day
in an F1 car.

Time difference from 1st to 15th - 1.152 seconds
Time difference from 15th to 16th (Andretti) - 1.253 seconds

Call it what you want, but it's certainly not impressive.
Oh well, at least he didn't wreck the car...

Not trying to make excuses for him, but does anyone know if the weather or
changing conditions had anything to do with his times. I know that Kimi had
some problems early then I think it rained later in the day..

I think he was using last years car. Klien got similar times with that
car.
There, an excuse. ;-)

Well, FWIW it seems that Super Aguri managed to post some competitive
times with last year's Honda in earlier tests... ;-p

I think its very impressive. Just not favorably impressinve. It
impressed me that Andretti is lucky to have a ride in a series the likes
of the IRL where the competition is thin, the fields are small, the cars
are slow, the tracks are mind-numbing and the expectations are low.
