Hoozyerdriver

Recent discussions on rasi/rasc brought to mind an incident that
happened to me several years ago in a suburban Chicago bar. I was
minding my own bidness playing pinball and getting drunk. I was
wearing a CART hat with various racing type pins on it. A somewhat
short, slightly drunk individual
came up to me, stared me up and down and said "Who's yer driver?
Earnhardt or Irvin?"

I don't recall what I said to the gentleman, but prolly something
along the lines of "Ah...no..."

Then he looked at my hat again and said "Oh, that's CART. I dunno how
they drive with them wangs"

True story.

I can't beat that, but a couple years ago after I came home from my
first Canadian F1 Grand Prix I was hanging out at a buddy's place and
his NASCAR-fan brother asked me if Danica was there. I told him she
wasn't in F1, but in the IRL. "Pfft - them open wheeley things is all
the same."

This was the same guy who didn't want to go to the ALMS or Grand-Am
races at Lime Rock because 'you don't get to see racecars based on
street cars like you do in NASCAR.'

Likewise, true story.

Until I was 12, I thought NASCAR stockers were Stock cars. *

* Until I was 12, NASCAR stockers were Stock cars, or mostly
stock ;-)
