OT - 12 Hours of Sebring

OT - 12 Hours of Sebring

I've pretty much finalized my plans to officiate at the 55th 12 Hours of
Sebring on March 17th. Airline tickets are booked, the rental car is
reserved, my friend in Arcadia has confirmed that I can crash at his
place for that week, and the Chief Marshal for the race has my name on
his list.

Needless to say, I'm pumped. This will be the largest (and busiest)
event I've worked thus far. I'll be working Turn 10 alongside many other
folks from the North-East.

ANYWAYS, I plan on taking beaucoups photos while I'm down there and
uploading pics to share with my online associates. Since I expect to
take thousands of pictures, I'd like to prioritize pictures of cars that
people would like to see. I'll take many, many pictures in that paddock
and will be able to take some action shots during the 12 Hour race since
we get breaks during the day (I normally never get to take action shots
since camera use while on-station is banned per SCCA Regulations). So,
let me know if there's a particular car or driver you'd like to see
pictures of.

I likely won't be able to cruise about the paddock during the autograph
session on Friday due to the tight on-track schedule. I'll try to make
the rounds down in the paddock when I can, but the media frenzy down
there will make it difficult to chat with many drivers. So, I can't make
any promises regarding up-close-and-personal shots of drivers.

Then again, perhaps the Highcroft folks will remember that friendly
marshal at Lime Rock who gave them a hand while unloading their car... :-D

Can I put an order in for lots of pics of Stefan Johansson in and out of
the Highcroft Acura?

Oh and if you see them around say "hello" from me to Guy Smith & Marcus
Hazelgrove who is Team Manager at BK Motorsports.

Don't work too hard and don't forget to enjoy yourself! :-)

Don't worry, Emma. I already had plans to visit the Highcroft folks, but
I'll also be sure to send your regards to the fine people at BK.

I'll especially be looking for Stefan... :-)

Perhaps you could you find him after the race, kidnap him and then post
him to me. Thanks. ;-)

The entire P2 class as that's where the action's going to be. Leave the
boring quiet P1s alone ;)

Oh god. Don't say that. Emma might explode.

You seem to have forgotten the Autocon & Intersport cars which are also
in P1 this season.

Wow, how exciting.

I'm just bitter that they do not have more factory teams.. I count three:
Audi, Corvette, and Spyker, and none of them have factory competition in
their own class, unless you count the Panoz PTG effort in GT2.

It all depends on what you class as "factory", for instance a lot of the
team running the Audi R10s (and previously the R8s) are actually from
Champion Racing, not the Audi factory directly. Then you've got the
Acuras in P2, they in all but team names are factory efforts.

It's been suggested that it would be cool to take the air restrictors
off the Corvettes a few times and let them race the Audis straight up.

The Lola-Mazda P2s are pretty 'works' in the engine compartment, then
you have to consider Penske's relationship with Porsche too ;P

And for that matter the Astons are fairly factory too - and might be
even more so if Dave Richards succeeds in buying the firm out ;)

According to the business part of Today on R4 this morning it is going to
happen. A figure of £500m was being talked about.
