Standing Starts Axed in ChampCar!

"The Champ Car World Series is stepping back from its new way of starting
races in 2007.
The Indianapolis-based sanctioning body announced today it will continue
with the more familiar flying starts -- cars moving at the green flag -- at
least for the first three races of the season. It had planned to adopt the
Formula One-style standing starts.

"We feel we need to fine-tune our standing-start process before we implement
it," said Tony Cotman, Champ Car's vice president of operations.

Champ Car has practiced standing starts at two recent tests, but not all of
the drivers expected to participate this season were available to practice.
Several have yet to be confirmed to rides.

Champ Car's season begins April 8 in Las Vegas."

Too bad, I hope they get it sorted out soon. I much prefer standing starts
and was looking forward to seeing ChampCar's version.

I saw some video of them practicing at Laguna Seca and it definitely looked
like they had some issues.
