It's actually a well accepted, documented and undenied (by
those in the know) fact. It only comes as a surprise to the
ignoramuses and self deluded chumpcar lemmings such as
yourself and buffoons who would attempt to suggest otherwise.

"By Champ Car's own admission, its deal with ABC/ESPN is
a time buy." - Steve Ballard, Indianapolis Star sports reporter

"Champ Car has been paying to be on television since 2002."
- Robin Miller, SpeedTV

"Champ Car buys it's time on the networks, which isn't the
best situation." - Bob Jennings, WORLD O' RACING

"(Look at) the air time Champ Car has to buy for any
exposure." - George Katinger, FastMachines
http :// www .fastmachines,com /archives/irl/003332.php?champcar_rss

"As for television deals, the IRL is way ahead, thanks to
the Indianapolis 500. George and the IRL have "rights
fees" that are contracted through the 2009 season with
ABC Sports and ESPN. Meanwhile, Champ Car's TV
deal is a "time-buy" agreement. This means Champ Car
buys airtime, due mostly to poor Nielsen ratings." - Greg Zyla

And on and on ad infinitum, ad nauseam; the ongoing,
pathetically feeble challenges from the peanut gallery
continue to be sidesplittingly hilarious.

The difference is that the IRL can negotiate based on TV rights to the
Indy 500. Without that jewel, the IRL wouldn't have any bargaining chips.

And IF my Aunt had balls, she'd be my Uncle.

Without the IRL's teams, owners, drivers, venues, sponsors,
vendors, viewers, TV contracts and exposure, current and
future opportunities and recent history, it "wouldn't have any
bargaining chips", what it in fact would instead be is chumpcar.

Have you checked you aunt for balls?

The IRL has an eleven-year history. Champ Car/CART has 30 years.

TV contracts? That's all based on networks getting rights to one race.

Exposure is all based on the Indy 500. There's no interest in the rest
of the races

Viewers? What viewers!? TV ratings are pathetic. That's why without
the Indy 500, IRL TV contracts would be based on how much the IRL would
pay to get some time. Like Champ Car.

Current and future opportunities? What might those be? Except words to
fill your claim. Current opportunities? There is no current
opportunity. Future opportuinities? What are they?

Recent history? Who cares. There isn't enough interest to have an
interesting recent history. There are no interesting recent historical
events.

So the IRL has no bargaining chips except the Indy 500. And watch out
because that's not anything near what it used to be.

That's the same package as Champ Car. Champ Car draws crowds to all its
races. I don't think the IRL can make the same claim.

I thought the IRL was surposed to be an all oval series. I count 5
road courses on that schedule. I also count 17 total races. So by my
count that is right at 30% of the entire season, including several new
events. It also includes one foreign race which wasn't the IRL
surposed to be a North American series?? hmmm What was that vision
again now??? I thought road racing was evil.

The quote from 'king George was I believe "Oval oriented, north
american based racing series"

Eyearellers always say "oh, they never said they wouldn't have road/
street courses"

which technically is true...

Road courses sure aint gonna help them short track guys....
