How many laps was this race supposed to be anyway?

Uh, don't tell me this was a timed event from the start like American
LeMans. Stupid. I would rather watch a forty lap race that takes one hour
to complete than a time race that ends in one hour and forty-five minutes.
Timed events should be the exception, not the rule, like in F1. Touring
cars are made for timed events, not open wheel cars.

They're all timed events this year.

As I understand, all CCWS races are timed this year...no lap limit.

Please tell me you are joking. Timed events are for touring cars. Timed
events for open wheel cars should be a back up as in F1. If you can't
predict how many laps and cautions will probably take place in two hours and
set the laps according to come under two hours you have no business running
an open wheel racing series.

I'm pretty sure that's what the announcer said.

Wikipedia says this, too (second paragragph):

It is probably set up with the broadcast people to allow for a ten minute
introduction, 1:45 race, and five minute wrapup.

There are probably not 300 people left in the entire world who still
consider it to be a proper racing series. It is simply the pet project of
the current owners. They own the engine supplier and most of the events and
in some convoluted fashion they also control the broadcast coverage. They
also seem to have a lot of pull with the chassis supplier. The only thing
they do not own or control is Bridgestone. FedEx and Simple Green and
nearly everyone else has bailed on them.

Sounds like a good business plan.
Club racing can go on and on..... impervious to outside forces. ;-)

Please try harder. If the most you can find to troll with is "I hate timed
races" I'm feeling pretty good.

I like his use of "we". Does that mean he is an OWRS official, or is there
a mouse in his pocket.

At least Rahal didn't cheat like Marco and pass before the SF line.

He did have a rookie moment and find the fence. It is so uncommon for
rookies to make a mistake.

Re: Vegas Snooze Fest - Rahal out before turn one

If you thought St. Pete was better you are on drugs. And I thought there
were no cautions after the incident on lap 14?

It was a great race, and the tv guys did a fine job.
