Indy president: F1 still welcome at Indy

Maybe Dennis and the rest of the band of thieves can get the same visa
attorney Amy Winehouse uses. Then, of course, they'd still have to
man-up, to actually race.

Indy president: F1 still welcome at Indy
09 April 2008

Last month Indianapolis Motorspeedway owner Tony George already openly
admitted he hopes to welcome back Formula 1 one day to his track.
George admitted it was mainly due to a number of sponsors whether or
not F1 can return to the US. This week the track's president joined
George in a bid to get Formula 1 back to Indianapolis.
GPUpdateManager,net - Register now!

Indianapolis will play host to the MotoGP circus in September. Unlike
the Formula 1 cars the MotoGP riders will be racing in the same
direction as the track is usually used for IRL races. The track had to
make a number of modifications this winter in order to get its safety
level up for MotoGP, but the changes shouldn't harm the track's
chances to host Formula 1 again one day.

Speaking at a press conference in Indianapolis Indianapolis Motor
Speedway president Joie Chitwood said: "Every change we made (this
winter) was also inspected and approved by the FIA so that should F1
come back, they can run this course, they can run it their same
direction, they can run it the other direction, they can run the
four-turn chicane in Turn One or not.

"We did not want to make any changes that would preclude us in the
future from hosting F1. I know that Tony has said it, I've said it:
The door is open. We think that's a phenomenal racing series; we think
it should be back in America. So the door is open. Maybe it can come
back some day."

Not going to happen - I think there's still some corners they disapprove
of. As I understand it, Bahrain will likely lose their race next season
after McLaren's poor showing recently.

Apparently Lewis feels the track needs to be extended for safety reasons.
The accelerating and braking zones were too short where he ran into the
back of Alonso.

It's hilarious that Lewis is even rattled by Alonso even in a slower car.
After Spa last year and Brazil it's hardly a surprise.
Alonso pwns him. ;-p

I'm happy for you two. I didn't realise your dicks, arms(or both)
reached across the North Pacfic, but FFS, go to a motel half way and
get a room. This isn't a 'pro' Max newsgroup.

You know, somehow I don't think you are... :)

Are you channelling for Bird now..?

Umm - it wasn't a pro Max post.

Don't tell me you too have prejudged poor Max before the outcome has been
properly determined. Isn't that despicable, or something..?

I don't know for sure, it's only those other righteously indignant posters
who'll know for certain. :)

Me ? Not happy about supposed grown ups making mindless high school
age taunts on the newsgroup ? Are you prejudging me ? That's just
despicable.

There is nothing to be "prejudged", we all saw the video and Max
fessed up to it. 2 halves make a whole.

Is there a real reason why the F1 boys cant do the oval? I'd love to see an
F1 oval race. And perhaps that might interest the locals more.

I suppose there is some technical safety reason...... (rolling eyes smiley
thingy)

So then you're suggesting a figure-8 race?

No, turning right in a primitive racing car is not mentioned in the
bible and so is a sin!

They need to do away with that pansy overpass. Make it a flat intersection
