2008, Formula One predictions running total (race 1 to 3)

I hope the list comes out right with the tab stops.

The following is the running total of points for what every poster here
has got for their guesses. I have the full list per race, but it's in
HTML format for now.

How the points are worked out?

Pole, 5 points ...
1st, 10 points ...
2nd, 8 points ...
3rd, 6 points ...
Near miss (per driver in top 3), 1 point...

What are "Near miss" points?

These are points that are awarded to the top three drivers who finished,
but ended up in the wrong position in a persons predictions. If you got a
driver in the right position then you do not score additional points for
"near miss" for that driver, because you didn't near miss the prediction
- you got it right.

The "near miss" calculation will be clearer when I post the results per
race.

Poster # Poster ID 1 2 3 TOTAL POINTS

1 Ar 1 16 2 19
2 Mark 1 7 1 9
3 Carel 10 - - 10
4 Richard Miller 1 16 11 28
5 Gongoozler 0 - 2 2
6 AC 1 - - 1
7 FB 0 - - 0
8 Bob Dubery 6 - - 6
9 Sreekumar A 15 7 2 24
10 Auke Groenenboom 1 1 - 2
11 larkim 5 - - 5
12 RdKetchup 6 6 1 13
13 Mike B 1 - - 1
14 Hornplayer9599 6 1 20 27
15 Shevek 0 - 11 11
16 Dave Baker 1 7 11 19
17 phil@ 1 - - 1
18 Bigbird 12 2 2 16
19 Peter 6 7 1 14
20 Dave Sill 1 - - 1
21 Roman21@ DQ DQ - 0
22 Rbrickston DQ - - 0
23 ric zito - 0 2 2
24 2005PTCruiser - 1 - 1
25 Depression - 7 - 7
26 Phil Carmody - 2 1 3
29 emuLOAD - - 24 24
30 APLer - - 0 0
31 Fred - - 10 10
32 Jonathan Peirce - - 11 11
33 Qbab - - 2 2

So the top three so far looks like:
1. Richard Miller on 28 points
2. Hornplayer9559 on 27 points
3. emuLoad on 24 points
3. Sreekumar A on 24 points

No! No! No! Using this system it's possible to win without ever
predicting a race winner. ;)

Unless more people want the scoring changed, AND come up with better
solution I'll stick with what I'm using. Don't think it would alter the
positions that much, especially for guessing pole, hardly anyone has got
that right, and nobody did in round 3.

Your game, your rules AFAIAC.

I'll make up my own scoring to prove I'm best after the season is over.

At the moment I thinking how much more difficult it is to predict who's
3rd in each race. ;)

On a related note, has the thread for the predictions of the upcoming
Spain GP been started? I haven't seen it here, so maybe it's a server
issue.

In any case, here are my predictions:

Pole: Massa
1st: Lewis
2nd: Kimi
3rd: Heidfeld

Was going to post it in the weekend... but will take this as entered
(unless you want to post it in the thread when I start it).

I just realized last night that the race is next weekend... my bad.

If you can remember those predictions and post them as-is, fine,
otherwise I'll try to re-post them when the thread is properly started.

Thanks.
