Finnish dominance on F1 tracks

Once again a Finn the fastest man on track and the other Finns following not
far behind. Is there any scientific research made on the Finnish superiority
in motorsports?

Yeah, there's fuck all to do in Finland except drive.

Which motorsports are you referring to? There are few, if any Finns,
superior or otherwise, in MotoGP, for instance, nor in Endurance
racing, Drag racing and a whole host of other motorsports.

In 2007 there were only 6 Finnish Champions, Kimi Räikkönen in F1,
Tommi Limonen in Finnish Formula 3, Mika Mäki in Italian Formula
Renault, Jussi Välimäki, Jari Ketomaa and Joonas Lindroos in Finnish
Rally Groups A, N and n respectively, and only 2 in motorcyling Enduro.

In the same year there were 20 German Champions in 4-wheel
motor-racing, 2 in two-wheel motor-racing. There were 40 British
Champions in 4-wheel motor-racing, and 6 in two-wheel motor-racing...
the list goes on and on.

Not really "Finnish dominance", is it?

These are minor leagues. As far as I know Brits seldom win anything. The
same applies to the Germans.

Persistence? I am not fishing. I am just curious about the fact that so many
Finns excel in motorsports.

They don't. In fact, as the figures I quoted show, they are, if
anything, under-represented in the league of top motorsport drivers.

What?

Are you refuting the figures I quoted? Compared with Germans, French,
Brits, Italians, Americans, Australians, and a host of others Finns
come way down the league.

If you are just referring to Formula 1 the nationality of DWC's since
F1 started is:

UK 8 drivers 12 DWC
Brazil 3 drivers 8 DWC
Germany 1 driver 7 DWC
Argentina 1 driver 5 DWC
France 1 driver 4 DWC
Australia 2 drivers 4 DWC
Austria 2 drivers 4 DWC
Finland 3 drivers 4 DWC
Italy 2 drivers 3 DWC
USA 2 drivers 2 DWC
Spain 1 driver 2 DWC
Canada 1 driver 1 DWC
New Zealand 1 driver 1 DWC
South Africa 1 driver 1 DWC

I'd be interested to know where you get your information that "Brits
seldom win anything", since we top the table with 5 more drivers than
Finland has and those drivers have 8 more DWC's than Finnish drivers.

It is same with hockey. As long as Canadians were the only ones around to
push the puck from one place to another they were best. But since the game
evolved and gained international recognation, it has been a bit different
story. British efforts in F1 have been mediocre in recent decades. Perhaps
the only figure worth mentioning was this Mansel fellow. He wasn't the
fastest racer around but he was highly spirited. That counts too.

And now for your finale - what percentage of each country's
population is a DWC?

I'd hazard a guess at the Scotts being at the top of the list.

Cheers
