If Vettel really believes he's the new Schumacher...

...then he might want to try and get ahead of Bourdais first.
It's starting to look embarassing, being regularly beaten by a guy from
a "second-rate" series. :-P

Then again, any of us who've seen the Frenchman race understand quite
well that he's no slouch...

So we rate Indy/Cart below GP2?

I suspect Bourdais would have been rather successful in GP2. He pretty much
owned Champ Car for 4 years straight, amassing 28 wins in 41 starts during
those 4 title seasons.

You can't gage his success by the quality of CCWS competition, because when
he was there, he had none.

He did pretty well in F3000 before GP2 came along.

His lack of competition in CC does make his success difficult to gauge
from the stats. But fast driving is fast driving.

Isn't he F3000 champion? ( F3000 = former GP2 series ), I saw him race
in F3000 back in the days and he was amazing.

Unless I missunderstand you, I think you missed my point.

To put down Bourdais because he was dominant in the so called second rate
series, would mean that GP2 is even more second rate as it is clearly a
stage down from Indy/Cart. So, if one is putting down Bourdais, one must
also logically write off all the drivers who came from GP2. Which is clearly
dumb.

I've seen what Bourdais can do in a car and he seems to be a bloody nice
guy, and frankly he should be in top team. Sure he looks iffy now, but I
sure that by the end of the year he will have proved himself.

I also have a feeling that the 2009 cars might suit him better.

He might well have been.

There is no logic to paragraph.

I don't think anyone has put down Bourdais for his dominance in CCWS
but rather that deductions about the status of CCWS might be made from
Bourdais form in F1.

It's a fair point isn't it? I presume there's something else to do with car
setup or his head not being as well sorted as the car, but regardless
Vettel's lack of raw pace (in relative terms) is mystifying.

I think that with Bourdait being a multiple champ in a decent series,
for him not to perform well would make it even harder to start
performing well. IYKWIM.

Nah Bourdais is only doing well because Vettel sets the car up for
him...or its because Bourdais has had loads of time in the
simulator....maybe the team give Bourdais the better car...or is he is
the bosses favourite...perhaps the mechanics like him
better...personally I think its because he has a comfier bed in the
motorhome.
