Turkey Report CardFerrari: Boy does Massa like this track. A faultless performance. If he
could do this at more than just two or three tracks a year, he would be
a genuine championship contender. A rather anonymous day for Kimi. The
Ferrari was clearly the better car today, and Lewis should not have been
able to get the jump on him.
McLaren: Another good day at the office for Lewis. It was an unusual
strategy. It required him to overtake a Ferrari on track, and he did so.
That was impressive regardless of the caveats around the different
strategies, especially when compared with the heavy weather Heikki made
of overtaking much slower cars. As for Heikki, it was not a good day for
him. Markku Gronroos has nothing to get excited about here, after his
two favourites failed to avoid each other in the first corner. I have no
idea who is to blame for that incident as no replays were shown, but
Heikki did not recover as well as the car should have allowed on a
circuit where overtaking opportunities abound.
BMW: No sign of them being right up there with McLaren this weekend, but
they are still the best of the rest, and Kubica once again significantly
outperformed Heidfeld. Robert's first win can only be a matter of time.
Hungary, perhaps?
Best of the rest: Another solid drive from Alonso, getting the most from
what is clearly no better than the fourth best car. He is clearly
feeling no pressure from Piquet. Webber and Rosberg can also be well
satisfied with their day's work.
Toyota and Honda are both still underperforming badly.
