Frank Williams has a reputation for independence and standing up for
what he believes in even if it makes him unpopular (not saying he's
right in this instance).
As you imply, we all know why Ferrari and Toro Rosso won't sign ;-)

I like Williams. Good for them. Williams are, for the most part, a
pretty honorable bunch. You also do not have them on global TV
insulting another driver like Ron Dennis did today about Kubica. Ron
is becoming more like Max by the day.

That RBR and STR actions differ does appear to narrow the angles.

Yes, but... as Todt seems to be max's successor in the hot seat, one wonders
wht Ferrari are the ones dragging their heels.

I'm sure I read somewhere (before Maxgate) that it was unlikely that
Jean Todt could command a majority inside the FIA and that Max's plan
was to appoint him as deputy and then resign leaving Todt in charge.
If true this plan has surely been scuppered by the scandal.

If Max were to see out his term then there would have been more
separation between Todt and the obvious conflict of interest.

However, more importantly, the bottom line is that the status quo suits
Ferrari very well.

The rewards for their support...
