I never said Rugby football was the oldest, but I am now interested to
know which you think is and how this relates to being the game you claim
to have some sort of monopoly on the name...

Do you mean "pedantry", perhaps? ;-)

Well yes. I was just pointing out that he's one strange american if he
calls it that - or very possibly, not an american at all. In other
words, a fake: a fake of whom I have no idea, but a rather funny one
anyway. "You lot"!

I am the sort of American who prefers to call proper football "football".
Soccer is a silly word. There is also Australian Rules Football and American
Football but there is only one sort of proper football which does not need
any sort of prefix.

I suppose it says something about us Americans that our best footballers are
on our ladies side. We have some catching up to do on the main front.

How do you differentiate between Association (soccer) and Rugby (rugger)
football?

Just ignore him. I know it's hard to do, but all he craves is
attention.

To be honest, he's a fake. Nobody could be that inbred and live.

Cool, you yanks can keep your TV etc, and the rest of the world (you know
there is a rest of the world, right) can keep the oil you desperately crave.

Deal?

You just said that. Getting on a bit?

Oh but you do. You want to be English more than anything else. Anything seen
as desirable and upper class in the US has its roots in the UK and Europe.
Try as you might, all you can produce is tacky vulgar trash. Britney, and MS
Windows for example. (Although, it would seem the Chinese are beating you
chaps at that as well these days.)
