I pretty much expected as much. It was fun to see it happen, though.

OK, you tell me this once in a while, but stop encouraging his
trollism. It is very fun to watch, but it only drives his desire for
attention.

BTW, I went to a Mitty at Road Atlanta this weekend. Huge fun and
probably over a thousand great cars were entered and the spectators
cars were great as well.

Every now and then I just can't help myself. :-D

He has just been annoying lately and hasn't come up with any new tricks,
so he's back in the bozo bin.

Only about 300...I'll try to pick the best, run Photoshop on them, run
the website builder program and upload it soon. Real soon!

There was a short F1 race that only had about 8 cars and I didn't get
any photos because we wanted to see them gridded and then it was too
far to a good spot to watch. But we did get to stand next to them

I remember a vintage weekend at Lime Rock a couple years ago that had
one race group with a bunch of early 60's F1 and F2 cars. I think it had
roughly 20 cars in it, and a fast one started at the back of the pack. I
was stationed at the entrance of Big Bend, and it was a sight to behold.
It was a treat to see those cars actually race each other, as opposed to
the tip-toe parades the other groups put on.

When they came around to take the green for the first lap, I took my
headset off to listen to all of those old engines come alive. It was a
thing of beauty.

I haven't been to a Mitty in over 20 years and the one I most remember
had to be in the early 80s. The number of F1 cars in the paddock were
staggering, but what I most remember was the lineup of Ferrari sport
cars. There had to be 40 of them all lined up in one direction. Then
they started every one up and moved them to the opposite direction so
the photo shots were in a different light.

Later that afternoon, there was this one guy with a 250 GTO in the
class race. He wasn't just cruising around and some of the other front
runners were in Cobras and 'Vetts. They were really racing these
irreplaceable vehicles. It was quite a show. Sadly, it wasn't the case
yesterday -- not too many great sports cars of the 60s, but it was
still great fun to watch the other cars.

You cant say F1 has been run out of the US and then claim its run in front
of barefoot peasants. That's self contradictory.

Well maybe in the USA if it was run on a proper track not that Dubai,
Bharain, China, Malaysia, Turkey and what other dump on s shite Tilke
track is any better. Japan has three great tracks that could be
used. Italy has at least 2 and maybe three. It really is a joke.
The only good thing is watching how fast and good Kimi is. Sadly,
Kimi is going to get bored and quit in a year or two. Maybe Renault
can get Alonso a better car to get kimi interested before it is too
late.

I agree. F1 has lost it's way. Bernie's pursuit of even greater
riches has caused him to focus on new markets away from the
traditional fan base. However, my thought is that this is just a
cyclical downturn and will pass. The history and tradition of F1
will sustain it - along with a little tweaking of the product to keep
it attractive to newer fans.

Featureless Tilkedrome skidpadrings will persist as part of the problem.

Not even having one race in USA makes F1 irrelevant to sport.

Not having one race in the USA makes it irrelevant to some Americans...
but will anyone outside the US notice the loss?

Quite right old boy!
Baseball, American Football and NASCAR are the only sports that
attract the undivided attention of the international community.

footnote: in order are British, Canadian games and the last created by
rum runners as a method of distracting the cops. So the question remains
still - what exactly is the US adding to the world?
