Donington from 2010

Not sure I believe it, but it's just been announced on the Press Association
wires. Watch this space...

Pitpass and Autosport are also covering the story:

* w w w .pitpass . com /fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=35284
* w w w .autosport . com /news/report.php/id/68828

Personally I think it's madness, and am hoping it's a negotiating tactic...
I think it's a bit classless to report it today on the eve of the 60th
Anniversary at Silverstone.

Paul

They do say the contracts are signed... which would be a bit extreme for
a tactic (if true, of course).

Thoroughly unnecessary. You might almost think the guy at the top of the
FIA was some sort of sadist...

oh

Mind you, you've got to agree with Bernie's comment about the <spit>
Olympics! Well, okay, you haven't *got* to... but I'm damn sure I do. :o)

That's what they said about Brands in 1999. I'll believe it when I see
the 2010 F1 grid lined up on the start/finish straight at Donington, and
not a second before.

(Yeah, okay... qualifying. And Friday practice. But you know what I mean.)

Pray tell, just what did he say? School is killing me, I haven't even
seen Silverstone, although my sister has regaled me with the rabbit
hunting.

Ah... sorry Dillon, if you'd asked immediately I might *just* have been
able to remember the details. Roughly (very!) it was a comment about how
much money has been wasted on the coming Olympics already, and how a
small percentage of that spent on improving GB's F1 facilities would
have been very nice, thank you.

I think this was the one:

Ecclestone said, while announcing the removal: "I am sorry that we could
not have helped Silverstone to raise the money to carry out the circuit
improvements and run Formula One.

"I believe that the Government should have supported them, which would
have cost probably less than.002 per cent of the Government's commitment
for the Olympic Games."

And Mosley, seemingly, agrees:

"Their taboo on subsidising sport went out of the window when they
poured billions into the London Olympics. They happen once every 50
years; the British Grand Prix is annual. If it went, the government
would be to blame."

Ah, it's the "blame it on THEM for not paying us the huge sums we
obviously deserve" ploy.
