Bernie admits talks with Donington Park

Typical, eh?

"We are discussing the possibility of reaching an agreement with
Donington to host the British Grand Prix," Ecclestone was quoted as saying.

"We are trying to save the British Grand Prix and we want it to be
staged at a venue which befits an event of its stature. I've been in
negotiations for a long time and whether or not we're going to do a deal
with Donington or Silverstone, I don't know.

"Donington have said they are going to build everything we want. Have
they got the money? Only time will tell. But I think there is more
chance of Donington having the money than the BRDC."

I love Donington, it's one of my favourite circuits. Hopefully, if it
does get the BGP, they won't ruin it!

I don't see how they can avoid it. The facilities and security systems
required for running a GP would change the place beyond all
recognition... unless it's already changed a damn site more than I
imagine since I last saw it. Though I reckon if so, you'd feel less
fondly towards it!

That stuff isn't required for running a GP. It might be required for
Bernie's business, but that isn't the same thing. 1993 worked. Monaco
works.

It is on this planet, until he turns his toes up.

You think Monaco doesn't have the structures and security stuff? You
think anybody would get away with producing a reduced/limited scheme as
is necessary at Monaco (though it's all still there in some form),
without actually *being* Monaco?

I don't know who this naive and optimistic young chap is, but tell us
what you've done with Ian Dalziel this minute! We miss the old codger. ;o)

So do I. But why do they wait till I've left the place?

No. It starts with an M and rhymes with pucker.

Either you think he's a good friend of yours, or only the second half
rhymes. ;o)

:)

Thankfully, I do have a good friend who still lives in the village, so
all is not totally lost.

Mmm, I have some very happy memories of our get-togethers there over
the years :-)

Yeah, harassing the paddock was great fun. My nearest circuit is now

Why should those be a problem? It's not like Bernie has ever
criticized Silverstone for anything like that. . . .

They did some major improvements to the roads after the farce of the
bike grand prix a few years back. It's generally been pretty well run
and organised for a while, now.
