Bernie was shown on ITV saying that Donington and Silverstone could do a
deal that passed the raced back to Silverstone, and that would be a
commercial decision for the two circuits and nothing to do with him.

Yeah, I'll be there. The Fit can handle the whole load and gets 35
MPG doing 75 MPH on a road trip. I have the new brake pedal to left
foot brake, just have to install the sucker.

Germany has two venues, why not the UK? Seems to me as a strong
possibility.

Not even a remote possibility these days. One GP max. The talk is
Donington replacing Silverstone.

I'm not so sure. Do you have some evidence of such? I would say the
possibility of Australia being dropped is much more likely.

Yeah, all the articles quoting Bernie in The Times, Autosport, etc.

If any countries were getting a spare GP it would not be in the UK
today. We don't have a supportive enough government. Heck, even the
French can't keep their GP!

If they are going to put the money in, which it seems they are, why not?
Silverstone was just a converted airfield. Why not a 1st class facility
at Donington? It's not reliant on just Tom Wheatcroft's money any more.
And it needs the work to make sure it keeps the motoGP etc, too.

I'd hate to see Donington ruined. F1-style runoffs at Druids, for
instance, would spoil the view for many of us who like to get
reasonably close to the action.

Sadly, I agree, but I think it's inevitable these days that circuits
either F1-Up or get sold for housing in the UK.

It's got to be less money to get Silverstone up to scratch than pretty much
any other facility, and that way we only need to Tilkefy one UK race track.

If not Silverstone, then plough the money into Brands, which has to be the
next closest (the money would mostly need using telling the new housing
estate to stop whining).

But Donington now has a far richer owner than Silverstone has, plus they
haven't spent the last few years whining and whining to Bernie and
generally winding him up.

Which is why it won't happen. Brands lost it's chances when Nicola
Foulston sold the family jewels to property developers and beefed up
anti-terror rules make radio a major issue.
