It's the IRL now replete with the drug-addled megalomaniac and his
cabal of imbeciles in charge. So you should stop your incessant
whining. In short, why don’t you just sack the fuck up?

That's how we were told it worked. I never saw any contract and don't
remember any official announcement about ABC paying for every race.
They are obviously not happy with the numbers they were producing so I
guess Versus made a better offer.

Now that the battle is over I would imagine ABC didn't offer as much
and Versus did.

I hope you are right. Versus has a great Tour de France program with
most of the stuff you are mentioning. I won't miss the local ABC
affiliate showing a weather alert every 10 seconds, either.

Versus does a great job with the Tour de France. They do an excellent job
with it. Really, they should call that network the Tour de France channel
than Versus. It would be nice if Versus would show qualifying, at least for
the road courses.

Versus hopes to win over Indy-car fans with more coverage. In addition
to guaranteeing each race a minimum of three hours of airtime, Versus
will offer one-hour shows the day before races (generally qualification
days) plus specialty programs throughout the season.

Versus is the old Outdoor Life Network (OLN).

Fine print, for those of you who are setting up your DVRs:

"The agreement also gives Versus the rights to carry all of the Indy
500 qualifying."

What a complete disaster this is for the IRL. I can't believe it - they
could not get a deal done to put this on at least ESPN2? This is a complete
disaster. I can't belie it - unification and now this? Ugh. What a
disaster.

ESPN2 is the Poker Channel. It looks like ESPN is drifting away from sports
the same way MTV drifted away from music.

And the regular ESPN channel has Sportscenter from early morning to 2pm or
so. I can't believe it - a 24 hour sports network that would rather
broadcast sports news during the day than showing the actual sporting
events. And they already have ESPN News.
