Martin for Mears??.....

Martin for Mears??.....

...not a good move for Hendrick, IMO - unless it is going to be
another one of those split rides where Martin will be developing
another driver.

Either way, I feel bad for Mears if this rumor turns out to be true.
It's not like the writing wasn't on the wall, but still I was hoping
for better things for him at HMS.

Rumors have Mark running the full season for HMS in '09. Retirement,
Schmetirement.

My guess is that he will be keeping the seat warm for Tony Stewart, whose
contract with JGR is through 2009.

A little birdie told me that *IF* Tony moves back to the Bow Tie Brigade,
he will be in the 4th RCR car sponsored by Cat and probably number 33.

Yeah, I've heard that too, but the timing seems awfully convenient for HMS
to take a run at signing Stewart.

I think the Cat deal is with Burton....

You shouldn't be listening to birds. The 4th RCR car will be #33,
sponsored by General Mills (Cheerios, Betty Crocker, etc). That's
been known for a while now. CAT will be on the #31 car, with Jeff
Burton, replacing AT&T. That also has been announced.

Probably Mark. If HMS got Mark his only championship, all those years at
Roush becomes just a footnote in his career.

AAAHHHHHHH, THUMP!! That was me dropping to the floor dead if Tony
drives for HMS EVER! I can live with RCR, but NEVER HMS!

Thanks Sandy. I didn't want to be the first one to say it, but I think
a move to HMS is the one thing that would likely knock Tony down or
entirely out of my cheering order. Even the Haas-CNC-Stewart satellite
team would be getting pretty close, although it at least offers a
*little* bit of separation.

The RCR thing I could do though. I think Tony could pull off a black
33. Maybe with Armor All or the U.S. Army on the car, let's say.

You're right about the 33 thing. I heard it mentioned somewhere, and
managed to forget entirely about the General Mills thing. Good catch.

I guess Tony could pull of a General Mills thing too. He certainly
looks like he could be one of their better customers.

If Stewart is in the 33, then General Mills should put Wheaties on the car
to keep Tony in orange livery.

Funny how many drivers want to drive for HMS. Also funny how RCR
has 'stolen' 2 major sponsors in the last few weeks--Cheerios from #43
& CAT from #22. Is there really any honor among thieves?

oh, you mean kinda like HMS stole the National Guard from Roush and
Georgia Pacific from Petty?
