Infineon results and standings

Infineon results and standings

RickyBobby was the only contestant to play it close to the vest and pick six
traditional Big Dogs and thus broke 1000 and won and collected the fifty
bonus points. Or at least five Big Dogs and Juan Pablo Montoya who I like
to root for because he is cool and let Jeff Gordon drive his Formula One
car.

Results

RickyBobby 1005+5055
Seven 952
Darrel 835
Sandy 829
Carey Akin 737 with five drivers
Fish 717
Hillary Step 671

and standings

RickyBobby 14808
Darrel 14417
Sandy 14333
Carey Akin 14260
Hillary Step 13911
Seven 11235
Fish 9957 and waiting to unleash the dragon in
The Chase

important bonus table

Hillary Step 150
Darrel 150
Seven 150
Fish 100
RickyBobby 100
Sandy 50
Carey 50

The only three part time stock car drivers who ever did any good cherry
picking NASCAR races were legends A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, and Dan Gurney,
at least in the Modern Era. There may have been some others in the 1950's
but I do not care if some scarf wearing poof won a race in a Jaguar.

Fish,

All kidding aside, I am both surprised and gratified that some of you six
actually follow this game and get some entertainment value from it.

When I first stumbled upon this chat room six or seven years ago there was
the vastly superior Top Ten Challenge or TTC that was operated and played by
some real NASCAR fan stalwarts. I did not even play because I thought that
I was not worthy because I was not one of the rasn regulars.

Then we hit a rough patch and the individual who was running TTC got sick or
busy or something and wanted somebody else among the regulars to take it
over and continue.

Then come a season when there just was no TTC so a few people tried to start
a prerace picking game but that was not so good because everyone else got
their nose out of joint and called us a "clique" which was not very nice.

So in honor of rasn I clumsily tried to start a weekly game in spite of the
fact that most everybody hates me because of my George Carlin sense of humor
and sometimes I get drunk and post really offensive stuff for which I am
humbled and ashamed but it still seemed like fun at the time.

So this season I <bad word> off Mike/Speed who I dearly love because he has
been a regular for years but you cannot take back what you did on purpose so
I apoligize to Mike/Speed. And the other girl dropped out because I was all
offensive just for the sake of being offensive which is not a good character
trait.

But now I got it down. I got the format down and I am going to quit
drinking one of these years.

Next season anyone can play if they make a selection for Daytona. No more
late entries. And the selection for Daytona is your "provisional" and will
be your picks for the next race if you are busy or on vacation or something.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to play along. Gaming is good
clean fun even if there are no prizes involved.

Forgot one thing. At the end of the season I will send a 50 or 100 dollar
USPS money order to Victory Junction Gang Camp and mention Usenet and rasn
and the screen name of the season long winner. So there is some sort of
prize but it does not go to you. It goes to where it can be put to the best
use. That Petty family and their supporters are what America used to be
before the politicians and corporations and special interest groups and
media consultants took over.

I, for one, appreciate that you take the time to run this game, RB, even
though I do not participate. (I simply do not have the self-discipline to
regularly make picks.)

It certainly adds a little more to RASN for a few of the people here, and if
it brings a few more people here a little more often, then it is a good
thing in my book.

Kudos and thanks to you, RickyBobby.

You are too kind. There was this really bad movie called "Blast From the
Past" in which one of the main characters kept on saying "because I must".
There has to be a prerace picking game on rasn just because it must be
there. It is more like nostalgia than anything else.

I know that there are still a lot of smarter and nicer people than me around
here and if next year somebody wants to restart TTC or some variant I will
shut up and go away. I still feel bad about Mike/Speed and that girl.

Thanks, Ricky. The game is fun, plus I have a better chance here than on
ESPN's fantsy league, where I'm in like in 60,000th place.

By the way, if anyone's interested in the ESPN game:
