Mears out... it's official

http :// msn.foxsports,com /nascar/story/8288646/Mears,-Hendrick-to-part-ways-after-season

I guess when Hendrick said he was committed to him for "right now", he
really just meant for that moment, 'cause less than a week later, he's
announced that he'll be gone...

No surprise to me in this 'results-oriented' occupation.
Didja know that Casey Mears' 4yr career has had 4 dif car #s:
40,42,25,5. Wonder if he'll get a 5th # in 2009?
CRU-Nice guys finish last(or at least in the middle of the pack)

that looks kinda deceiving there.... 4 cars, but only two teams... and
all Ganassi drivers finish last (or at least in the middle of the
pack), even the a-holes.

a-holes? Ya mean Ganassi? and maybe Jimmie Spencer? Shirley not
Jamie Mac! who will join CM soon. If Chip wants to succeed in both
IRL & N, he needs to decide which way he wants to go (Penske too).

no, I don't mean Jamie... I was referring to JPM. I kinda, sadly,
agree with you. If Jamie doesn't turn things around real quick, I
will be rooting for him in the Nationwide Series soon... :(

Personally I think Jamie has done quite well of late..
He has had some good runs going only to get caught
up in stuff not of his doing...
Look at last week....

He has also improved his position in the standings
better than anyone in the last 10 weeks... +16 spots...

Hey... I'm not saying he's title material, but he has done better...
IMO of course..

Let's hope he has a good run at Loudon...
But I know it is one of his least favorite places...
Of course he isn't alone on that either!!

Makes ya wonder if he's been told to pick it up or he'll be
moving out. That can spark a remarkable improvement in some
drivers - DEI used to do it annually with Waltrip.

Whoa there! Yellow flag!

Back in the day that I worked at the track for CART testing Ganassi
was literally the only non-asshole. His team was the only one who
would not sneer at us regular folks. Because of that they were the
only ones we let fish the lake.

Nothing against Mears, but he really sucks.

Remember also, Hendrick said "there's no room at the inn" when Junior
first announced he was leaving DEI last year...and we saw how that
turned out. I told the Mrs. as soon as Hendrick "denied" that Mears
was on the way out, that it must be a done deal - that Casey was
already history.

The weird thing is, the strong vibe I am getting from out there
(Charlotte) from the folks I know in the business, is similar to what
armpit has been saying here: HMS is courting Tony Stewart to drive for
them *while* he's buying in to Haas-CNC, sort of like DES driving for
RCR while owning DEI. Seems that Tony doesn't so much want to drive
for himself as much as he just wants to get back into a competitive GM
ride for the moment, before he goes off and does the owner/driver
thing or maybe just an owner thing down the road - but wants to the
the owner/driver of a Chevy and not a Toyota.

The other side of the coin is the Mark Martin part-time deal that
Jayski is running with, MM sharing the seat with Kesolowski and maybe
even Cassill. Who knows? Only the first shoe has dropped (Mears out),
may be a week or two before we get the rest of the story.

I don't even follow the TS story. When it happens we'll all know.
Until then, we all need to have patience instead of fan speculation.

Doesn't Haas get their engines from HMS? Or am I thinking of another
team.

Was uncle Rick still working with Casey?
