Another Debatable Future Question

Another Debatable Future Question
Diandra has been referred to before in RASN as a technical writer
on brake heat, etc.. This is the 1st time i've read her stuff.
Just wonder what y'all think?

Enough about the Car of Tomorrow already. Let's talk about the Driver of
Tomorrow and the Race Team of Tomorrow.
Are drivers still important or is the new car really a remote control toy for
the engineers? A number of drivers have complained they don't think they play a
very important role anymore, especially in testing.

Total nonsense. NASCAR is a spectator sport. Junior has a personality and
ten million fans and Mears has no personality and no fans. Stuff like this
may be factually accurate but it has nothing to do with anything.

The relative prettiness of the paint schemes on the cars and the public
personality of the drivers has a whole lot more to do with success than if
Goodrich or Hoosier can build a tire with a better feel to it than Goodyear.

Outside of a sewer, there is nothing worse than auto racing journalism.

You were doing good until you got to "Jr. has a personality"

I think on tech stuff she's good. Sometimes over simplified and
thus not strictly accurate, but for the audience she's aiming at,
it's close enough.

Hammond and Brewer should be embarassed that they can't explain
tech on the TV as clearly as she does, incidently.

Couldn't really follow if she was arguing drivers are still
essential, or arguing they aren't. Either way, there's a vast
number of examples to show how crucial the driver is. Just
consider, for example, the results of Jeff Burton in the #29
car in Nationwide with the results of Scott Wimmer in the same
car. You can't blame anything but driver skill for that.
