Hendrick's revolving door

Hendrick's revolving door

What's the deal at HMS? They have released a driver three seasons in a row.

Vickers in '06
Ky Busch in '07
Mears in '08

While the three may be unrelated, it sure seems to form a pattern.

hmm and if martin comes in next year, it'll probably be 5 yrs, 5
drivers, because i can't see him driving 2010, i think 09 will be his
las season. but if stewart or truex comes, i think they'll be there
for awhile

Although you do not say your opinion clearly,
it sounds like you think releasing/changing one
a year is 'not good'. ?

Seems to me, with a team able to support 4 good rides,
once a year culling out the weakest (lowest 25%)
makes sense. Try the other "best available".
Better than sticking to absolute exactly the same.

If you do not do routine upgrading, then you can
easily get stuck with a sinking program.
Or need to drasticly rebuild by changing most.

Vickers and Mears were for lack of talent. Busch was for being an ass.
There is no pattern.

Why is Hendrick hiring drivers that suck in the first place?

And he and NASCAR have deals in place to help even his "second tier"
drivers(JR, Mears - or whoever replaces him) in the top ten cup
points.

Don't mind Chris Coaster. He is just a troll with nothing to contribute.

Come to think of it, so am I!

But once in a while I get something right. Like on June 9 I called out
Mears for sucking and by the end of the month his boss fired him. Now on
June 29 I am calling out McMurray for not being able to drive and we will
see what happens with him.

It ain't like it got nothing against Mears and McMurray. They may be good
guys in their own right but they just cannot drive a race car for shit.

I thought Mears did a pretty good job of proving he wasn't top shelf when he
drove for Ganassi, yet Hendrick hired him anyway to replace Vickers. I said
back then it was a sideways move, and Casey has proven me right.

because the teams want younger guys, (i dont know how old mears is,
but he looks fairly young, late 20's ish) teams just want the young
guys they think they can mold. HMS went and got mears and it was a bust

I am not sure about this but I think I heard that Mears was like the best
buddy of Rick Hendrick's son and that may have had something to do with the
whole thing.

Casey Mears may do great in Nationwide or Trucks but he is clearly
overmatched in the big leagues.

That was Brian Vickers.

If Ryan Newman goes to Haas-Stewart, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mears in
the 12 car, considering the Mears' family connection with Penske.

You both are on the right track as to the results. Rick's thoughts might
have included that he's had some fair results in hiring anuther USAC-er
(Jeff somebuddy) and the Mears name may have had some value when approaching
sponsors.

Seems like Rick knows when to Fish (err...umm, sorry!) or cut bait.
