What I think

What I think

Of course "think" is not something that you would normally associate with my
screen name.

But here goes anyhow.

I think that either Senator Obama or Senator McCain should man up and say
that if they are elected they will put Africa on the front burner.

I ain't got nothing against Africa and I ain't got nothing against African
people. But they could use some help. They are starving and they are
dropping over dead all over the place. It ain't nothing but a thing and the
result of some bad decisions. Fair enough, but before anybody else dies we
may as well all get together and make some better decisions about food and
water and economy and government and everything.

I may be wrong about this, as I am most often wrong. One time I saw on the
teevee that the West was just about to man up and take on the human misery
in Africa but the 9/11/2001 attacks from the Islaams got in the way.

There is a lot of human misery to be had everywhere and I do not care about
race or creed.

I know that I said a lot of racist stuff about a stocky Jewish lad not
winning a hundred meter dash and a muscular black kid not winning a chess
tournament either. That was just George Carlin or Jerry Seinfeld
observations and for real I do not think anybody is any better or any worse
than anybody else.

I think we have the power to relieve human misery. Seriously.

Human misery may be in some of the nations of Africa or it may be in
Hisponola or it may be in the slums of South America or it may be somewhere
else.

We got the grains and we got the planes. We got the people who know how to
teach a kid to read and we got the people who know how to purify water. We
got the nurses and we got the Nuns and we got the doctors and we got the
techs.

I ain't saying that everybody should be just the same as everybody else but
a person should have some sort of chance to do something with their life.
They can have their skin and they can have their beliefs and they can have
their form of government and they can have their culture and so on and so
forth but just give everyone a <bad word> chance.

I do not care if North Korea has sort of a closed government by our
standards and if Cuba has sort of a closed government by our standards and
if Zimbabwe has a harsh government by our standards.

Everybody deserves three hots and a cot and a clean place to do their
business. It has nothing to do with racism or politics or oil wealth. It
really does not. This is 2008 and we are advanced enough that everybody at
least deserves three hots and a cot an a place to squat.

Maybe I am too ignorant to see the bigger picture but that is just me.

I may be Pollyanna but I still think that everyone who is in the game
deserves three hot meals and some bedding under them at night and some clean
water and some health care and some education.

Maybe you think differently. Maybe you think that we live in a competitve
environment and that the people who play the game best win and the people
who play the game worst lose.

I do not wish to argue either side or the agrument any further but I do want
to say one thing.

We got plently of grain and doctors and oil and nurses and coal and Nuns to
go around.

Maybe there are reasons that all of his aid does not get around to the
people who need it. But those people are no different than your next door
neighbor.

<SNIP>

And based upon what I snipped, you have given no further evidence to support
an opinion otherwise.

Usenet is enormous.
Isn't there some other newsgroup out there that this sort of subject matter
would be more appropriate to post to?

I know I already made you mad once this season so leave us to go around
again.

All I was trying to say is that everybody deserves three meals and a school
and a job and a hope for a better tomorrow.

Maybe I am wrong and maybe I am Pollyanna and maybe there is no way that
everybody is going to get a meal and a bed and a school and a job and some
health care and some dental care and some vision care and the same sort of
police we have in the USA.

But even if I am right or I am wrong or I am dumb or I am stupid or I am a
racist I still think that everybody deserves it.

It may never happen in my lifetime because of stuff that is beyond my
control or even my comprenshion but I still think it should be there for
everybody.

A home builder, a cook, a doctor, a nurse, a teacher, a dentist, a law
enforcement officer, a social worker to sort things out should be there. I
do not care if you are in South America or Eastern Europe or Northern
Africa.

The next baby born five seconds from now should have a decent chance at a
decent life. Maybe I am not smart enough to suggest how that should happen
but it should happen anyhow.

I don't normally respond to political posts here, but here is a comment that
I have. Now, I travel to west Africa from time to time for work. What I
can tell you is what is needed there is for the governments of those
countries to be held accountable. Money, both in the form of relief AND
commercially (Nigeria comes to mind), yet almost nothing gets to the people.
Yet the leadership there gets to partake in the international community, UN,
the rest. Trust me, Lagos, Nigeria is like a scene from a post apocalyptic
movie. I don't care if I never go back.

Carey,

Thanks for that.

I ain't much caring for anything that has to do with race or nationality or
money or oil or politics or bad government or anything else like that.

Maybe its says in the good book that the poor will always be with us but it
does not say that we do not have enough fucking money and enough fucking
airplanes and helicopters and doctors and nurses and dentists and therapists
and stores and supplies to try to do something about it.

I ain't no communist or socialist and saying that everybody should be
equally poor but I am saying that if you know there are like four million
kids living on garbage dumps in South America you should send the Marines
around round those kids up.
Maybe they will not all turn out to be Shakira but they should not be living
on a garbage dump either.

Don't matter if it is Africa or Asia or that bit around Israel. The
geography and politics and culture and history do not matter one bit. A
person is a person and deserves a fucking chance. Maybe not a chance to win
a Nobel Prize but at least a chance to eat and sleep in peace and to see a
doctor and dentist once in a while. And the kids need to see a school
teacher about five days a week also.

If we seem to have the resources to fight wars in Afghanistan and Iraq at
the cost of hundreds of billions of dollars it would seem that we have the
same resources to put a biscuit and a book in the hands of a kid somewhere.
Maybe just putting a biscuit and a book in the hands of that kid is not
going to make him or her O.C. but at least that kid will not die hungry and
stupid. At least that kid would have a chance and know that somebody cares.

I know that this all comes off all communist and socialist but one of you
tell me where these billions to fight wars in Afghanistan and Iraq come
from.

You would not want me to run for President. If I somehow got elected I
would tell the troops to kill every fucking adult and save every kid.
Nothing to do with race or geography or religeon. All of that is good but a
person has got to have a chance.

There are a few companies like that. And sometimes its not what the
companies can do as much as if they are equipped to handle the size of
the job.

I guess that is the case. But some of those Halliburton and Blackstone are

That's not their job. And the reason that everyone is taking shots at
them is because they are a successful business. Any successful business
MUST BE CORRUPT. Just ask a liberal.

I would have to disagree with that. I do not think Walgreens or Lowes or
Staples or any of a couple thousand other businesses must be corrupt. They
just do things good and that is why people walk in the door every day.
