I was wondering why the NH race changed from 300 laps/miles to 301
and found out retroactively here. Guess u already had 'inside info'
about it, eh? Could there be a 'Track Promoter/GM' in the near future?

NASCAR,com - This weekend's Cup race literally goes the extra mile - Jun 25, 2008

Going the extra mile is, in NASCAR-speak, code for having more fuel than your rivals.
To LENOX Industrial Tools, title sponsor of this weekend's race at New Hampshire
Motor Speedway, it's just how they do things on a daily basis. On Sunday, the
company will, quite literally, go that extra mile in the LENOX Industrial Tools 301.
"Going the extra mile, at LENOX, is something we don't take lightly," said Eric Pinkham,
vice-president of sponsorship and event marketing for LENOX parent company
Newell Rubbermaid.

I'd say.....
But the big beef from what I hear,
was never with the sponsors,
but one guy at JR racing..

They probably would have liked to have gotten the whole 301 in,
but I think everyone was pretty amazed that they got in all that
they did, without any delays,
or numerous showers/dryings/restarts etc..
That just absolutely ruins a race. imo.
Up until the actual rain, is was a near perfect raceday, weatherwise..
