Great radio broacast line
Great radio broacast line
During the radio broadcast of the Coke Zero 400 one of the broadcasters
came up with a great line. I cannot quote it exactly but he said that the
fans at Daytona were not using their seats any longer when Dale Earnhardt,
Jr. was in the lead because they were standing up. But when it got to be two
or three wide for the lead the fans were using their seats again because
they were standing on them. That is a great observation and a great line.
NASCAR was formed in 1948 to promote a sport that the average fan could
enjoy. And they failed. The average fan does not wear their heart on their
sleeve. The average fan does not wait months for seats that they never sit
in. The average fan cannot be moved to tears by just a number. The average
fan tailgates for three hours, the NASCAR fan tailgates for three days.
As long as there are fans like these the corporate billions will keep on
flowing in to keep the race cars running. I am pretty dumb and stupid about
a lot of things but I feel confident in this. When the suits of clothes on
Wall Street or Madison Avenue see a Daytona or a Bristol or an Indianapolis
they know that where passion goes, money soon follows.
NASCAR is the sport of the Girls Club and the Boys Club and the Eagles and
the Girl Scouts and the Elk and the Boy Scouts and the Shriners and the
Moose and every other service organization. VFW, Forgeign Legion, and so
on.
NASCAR represents what is best about America. Some nigger singing about 22
inch rims and the booty on his favorite girl is not the best of America.
That rims and voluptuous booty singing will be long gone when NASCAR racing

ten million dollars jets and half million dollar motor coaches at the site
