this is not a matter of "stealing"... it's a matter of investors
choosing one product over another.... getting a better bang for their
buck.

Apparently, split with Keselowski. For me, this bit of gossip came
out of the blue. Martin? Give me a break, the guy needs to retire.
Or become a test driver for HMS, if that's what they want.

Why does Mark need to retire? He is still very competitive, despite driving
less than top-level equipment. Since he retired from full-time Cup racing,
his percentage of top-5 finishes (19.44%) is higher than all but nine other
drivers. Who *wouldn't* want Mark as a full-time driver?

Well, why is he driving when he is supposedly "retired?" It's
annoying to try to figure out when and if he's in he 8 car. He should
make up his mind.

Plus, it's been forever since he won a race. I can't think he's
better than Mears, who still has a good twenty years before he's
Mark's age, plus Mears at least won a race in the 21st century. ;-)

He never fully retired. He said he was retiring from running Cup full-time,
and unless these rumors are confirmed, none of that has changed.

Have a look at the point standings. Martin is only a handful of points
behind Mears, despite having run 4 fewer races. Martin has more top 5's and
top 10's as well.

Keep in mind that Mark is about the same age as DE was when he died. DE was
one of the favorites to win the Cup that year. Not all drivers lose their
stuff when they get older. And just to clarify, I am not saying that MM=DE.
I'm just sayin' that not all drivers go out like Petty & Waltrip.

That's what came to mind when I read the rumors this morning. I can't
see him going full time again, but who knows? As for development,
there are several names that come to mind: Brad Keselowski and Landon
Cassill - probably Keselowski if he keeps running good for JRM/HMS in
the Nationwide Series.

Jayski is also reporting a rumor that Martin will split seat time with Scott
Speed at RBR.

Maybe a full season in two different rides? 8^)

that would actually make sense if a driver can do that..can they? espn
was saying the HMS ride would be full-time with martin. but could he
run a full time schedule with 2 separate teams? he could develop
keselowski and speed, who i believe will both be stars in the future

A driver can drive for as many teams as will have him.

In days of yore that was true. In the ultra-corporate world of
today's NASCAR, that won't happen. You won't see Martin drive
for both Hendrick and Red Bull - not unless one of them switches
brands, at least.
