I believe the point here is, he wrecks KyB, he is penalized 2 laps,
end of story, right? Nope. JPM says in his post race interview that he
did it on purpose, *then* he is called to the oval office.

They took his laps away AFTER he was called to the trailer, and then
Nascar officials said there would be no further penalties. Just FYI.

OK, just going by what you wrote earlier in this thread "JPM was
penalized on the spot with a 2-lap loss ... ended up 34th and KuBu was
25th"

I thought you meant, ON, the spot, not after the visit to the oval
office.

Sorry - no, I said "on the spot," meaning at the track, and not "next
Tuesday." ;-)

No more penalties, according to what Nascar said after they took his
laps away in the trailer after the race.

I'd imagine that the consensus amongst most Na$car regulars is that Montoya
is more of a wreck waiting to happen than KyB is.

That depends, I think, on where KyBu is running. Since he's been
running up front for most of 2008, there haven't been a lot of
incidents related to him running over or into his competition, to make
them get out of his way.

But that was certainly his method last year, and I saw the same thing
with the JPM deal. I don't think he's matured as much as I thought he
had.

You may be right, but what Montoya did during that caution could have taken
several cars out of action that had absolutely nothing to do with his &
KyB's little spat.
It was a stupid, dangerous, & selfish thing to do.
I watched that replay several times over & was amazed that no one else was
dragged into that melee.
What Montoya did only cemented in my mind more securely what I had already
thought of him - he's a tool.

Has Kyle Busch Finally Met His Match?
Tuesday, July 1, 2008
By Allen Madding Insider Racing News

Kyle Busch has been on a metal crumpling, competitor spinning tear
as of late and so far NASCAR has left his tantrum fest unchecked.
Busch took out Johnny Benson in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway in April to capture a 2nd place
finish while NASCAR set silent. He tied up with Steven Wallace in
the NASCAR Nationwide Series Lipton Tea 250 at Richmond requiring
team members to intervene. At Michigan, Busch spun Ron Hornaday on
the final lap for fourth position in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series Cool City Customs 200,

and again, NASCAR watched silently calculating the net effect of drama for television
audience draw
perhaps. To date, NASCAR has done little to curb Busch’s temper or
to deter him from his over aggressive driving methods.
It has appeared to many that Busch can intentionally crash any
competitor without any corrective action from the sanctioning body.

Many in the garage have said that it would require retribution from
other drivers in all three of NASCAR’s top series to effectively
give the youngster an attitude adjustment.
