Mexico race;

I posted this on another group as well.

It seems strange that no "big-name" nascar guys are there ? Edwards
being maybe the exception? even he announcers & such seem
"second-string"

Are they afraid of the food,water,..or bandits...<BG>

most drivers look forward to and relish any off week, you won't see a
lot of the "name" drivers unless they are both at the same venue for the
weekend, you don't think the winner is a big name driver?

the announcers were and are "the" lead ESPN2 team for ALL 'Nationwide
Series' races this year

Well, given their performance so far I'm not sure "second string"
isn't an appropriate description.

But seriously, neither Dale Jarrett nor Andy Petree were there, if
I'm not mistaken. They had Ray Evernham for the crew chief side
of the booth (and he did a decent job, I thought; for some reason
Rusty seemed to work better with him than with Petree).

OK: so it's not just me.

I found myself wondering "has Rusty suddenly gotten better?" But I think
you're right: he gels better with Evernham.

Re: Mexico race;

I'd think Kyle Busch was a "big name" NASCAR guy. :)

But I assume your point is "where are the flood of Cup drivers that usually
turn up for a Nationwide race."

Usually that's when Cup & Nationwide are same weekend, same place. There
are two conditions that tend to cut it back to only the most dedicated:
separate locations, same weekend, and Nationwide running on a Cup week off.

This is the latter; one of what is it, three weekends a season the Cup boys
are actually nominally on vacation? So most of them opt to actually take
the vacation and skip running Nationwide.

And the production guys..
They completely missed Busch's pass for the lead... the most
important, pivotal part of the race and they missed it...
