RPG - Eastabooga - McCoy

Well, another plate race where it's hard to get any hints from
qualifying thanks to the go-or-go-homers running significantly
faster qualifying setups. However:

The Win: Stewart shows the speed in qualifying was not a fluke, and
gets the first win from pole we've had in a while.

1) top Chevy - is neither Nemechek or Shrader (the two fastest)
or Earnhardt, but instead is Johnson.

2) top Ford - Kenseth shows skill in traffic outweighs speed in
qualifying.

3) top Dodge - kind of a moot point, they're all slow. Sadler
is probably best at working the draft, so I'll pick him for
top Dodge.

4) Nemechek, Allmendinger, Shrader, Wood and Petty all used
qualifying setups to post top 15 qualifying times. None of them
finishes in the top 20.

5) Aric Almirola is again best of the (somewhat depleted) rookie
contingent (best wishes to Franchitti, injured in the Nationwide
race and thus not participating in the Cup event).

non-scored bonus: Jon Wood also finishes ahead of all the official
ROTY contenders, showing that a Yates motor still counts for
something on the plate tracks.

Uhhh...that'd be fine if'n you were picking Nemechek.

Yeah, dunno how I forgot Stewart had slipped to outside pole :-)

Moot point, as it turns out...altho I'm gonna wait to score my
RPG until the official finish order shows up on Monday, because
I'm guessing they'll end up changing things around abit in the
order of the guys in that last lap crash.

OK, lets take a shot at scoring:

I goofed on the pick, but it didn't matter - no point here.

Mears!

Ha - hard to be wronger on that. Kudos to Ragan as top Ford,
and bigger ones to Kvapil with a strong 6th.

Sadler actually did lead some, but at the end JPM was best.

A point - Nemechek was 25th, and the rest were behind that.

Nope - pitted early for I know not what reason, and ran most of
the race 3 laps down. Teammate Regan Smith took top rookie honors.

race: +1
season: +9
