NASCAR Theology

I bumped into this link thru Jayski and thought I would post it (especially
for Marty) if anyone missed it.....

http :// insiderracingnews,com /Writers/RG/050908.html

Of course, God does not intervene in NASCAR races. If He did, the Dodge's
would always win 'cause He is a Chrysler fan.

Interesting topic. Here's my take:

God loves everyone equally. Every driver, every crew chief, every
spotter, every tire changer, etc. etc. etc. Whether they love Him
back or not is irrelevant.

Were God to intervene to help someone win, it follows that He is also
intervening to someone else's detriment at the same time. The only
exception I can think of would be for Him to step in and protect
someone from injury or death. That would be helping someone without
hurting anyone else.

So, I tend to think that God leaves the outcome of the races--and all
sporting events for that matter--to the participants.

Just my .02

It is a classic problem.

The question of how to understand God's sovereignty, the grace
given to believers, and the freedom (and value) of our response
has been part of theological debate for centuries.

I'm not going to get into my views here in any
detail.

Suffice it to say that I pray for my favorites to win
and for my less-than-favorites to lose. I figure that
God knows what to do with prayer like that, if anything.

Re: NASCAR Theology

Finds it interesting what people care about enough to pray for, I reckon....

Good thing, however, that God doesn't tally up prayers like votes and cause
the outcome of the race to come out according to who got the most prayers;
life would be very boring with Junior winning every race :)

I'm hoping that there will be a few recounts after
Judgment Day. It's conceivable to me that there
are victories all over the place that we cannot see
these days. Moral Victory points are just a taste
of a better world yet to come. :o)

Re: NASCAR Theology

Do I read here an implication that the elders are *not* Junior fans?

How would one extrapolate what driver the elders do endorse?

Mu.

One climbs high on the Mountain and sits at the feet
of the elders, of course.
