RPG World 600 TomS

I know they call it the Coca-Cola 600 now, but it is still the World
to me.

A lot has happened at LMS this week with Humpy retiring and both of
the Hass-CNC cars being confiscated so lets see what we can conjure up
in the crystal marble for this weekend.

Winner: I'd like to think that Casey Mears could repeat, but I think
that is doubtful.I'd like to think that Mark Martin would win it, for
sentimental reasons. But I am going to say Bobby Labonte.

1. JPM has his third crew chief in a month and is not a happy camper.
He qual'ed in the back and will finish in the bottom one-third of the
field (29th or worse)

2. Kyle Busch starts on the pole, but his wild ways will catch up
with him and he will not be on the track when the checkers fly.

3. DE Jr is having a solid season with hendricks and will have a
solid run here finishing in the top 10.

4. Brian Vickers carried the Red Bull colors to a third place
qualifying spot, but will fade during the race. His team mate, A.J.
Allmendinger, will be the top finishing Red Bull car with a top 15
finish.

5. Sam Hornish Jr. is the top qualifying rookie in the 20th spot. He
will also finish in the top 20 and be the top finishing rookie.

Segment total going in - +10

Where did Kasey Kahne come from?? He was no where to be seen until
the end. It was still a nice run for him.

0 Nope. But still a really good run for Bobby. Down a lap early on,
got back on the lead lap and hung out in the top 10 for a while. Then
got shuffled to the back of the lead lap cars (don't remember how that
happened), and was moving forward when the checkers fell. 11th place
finish.

+1 Thank You, Juan. After a nicely executed slide across the infield
grass, he finished 30th.

0 Up and down all race long, had battery/alternator problems and
still finished 3rd.

+1 Until he cut a tire and smacked to wall, it looked like he could
win it. But he still finished 5th.

0 AJs 20 place finish was definitely ahead of Brian's 42nd, but it
wasn't a top 15. Curse you two part picks. I oughta know better by
now.

+1 YES! Sam seems to be hitting his stride. He might win a race
before the season is over. NB, this is not a prediction. (((^:

I think his car was pretty loose early, and he was just taking it
easy until it got dark. I would imagine their plan was to reuse
the setup from the All-Star, and if that didn't suit the track
early they'd just suffer with it.

One good thing about the CoT is the front fenders aren't allowed
to project way out like they did on the aero car, and thus the
fenders don't really contribute any downforce. So flattening the
right side sheet metal doesn't really seem to affect the car.
