"Danica Patrick failed to finish for the first time in four trips to
Indy, though it wasn't her fault."
IMHO after analyzing my own accidents and being the guy who called
yellows @ Homestead for a while I disagree with this analysis (even
though Michael Andretti started it in his interview). I've spent a bit
of time on the water and have a little knowledge of Admiralty law. In
their opinion almost always both captains are at fault in a collision.
In Danica's case she should take at least 5-10% blame as she saw it
coming and did not move out of the way even though she had at least a
foot or so clearance from the wall. Yes it was mostly his fault. but
if she wants to win races and not just pout like a little girl then I
hope she learns something from the incident.
Too bad too because I am rooting for her. If she were to win the Indy
500 it would be a huge draw. As it is now I am now remotely
considering going to another 500. For the last few years I would only
watch it if it was convenient whereas before the split I would not
miss it for the world.
