RPG - the Big Race and the Long Race - McCoy

RPG - the Big Race and the Long Race - McCoy

OK, better get this in before I prepare the couch for a long
day of watching races (already 1 down, decent F1 race from
Monaco this morning, altho it probably would have been more so
if it had kept raining).

The Big Race:

the Win - I think I'm going to go with Helio to get his 3rd copy
of the Borg Warner trophy.

1 - Danica finishes 6th or better.
2 - a Ganassi car is 2nd.
3 - Graham Rahal is the best finishing ex-Champ Car driver.
4 - Foyt-4 overdrives a mediocre car and wrecks.
5 - neither Andretti finishes (this _is_ Indy, after all)

The long race:

the Win - Greg Biffle. Several of the Roush cars looked strong
(oddly, not including Edwards), and Biffle has the best record
at Charlotte of the Roush guys.

1 - best Chevy - hard to go against Johnson at this track, but
I'll go with Earnhardt Jr to T5 and be best Chevy.

2 - best Dodge - Elliott Sadler steals Kahne's setup and has his
best finish in a long time as top Dodge.

3 - best Toyota - Busch breaks, Vickers fades, Denny Hamlin runs
the steady race to be the best finishing Toyota.

4 - best rookie - Hornish blows them away finishing at least 15
positions ahead of the next best rookie.

5 - story - Blaney gets a T20 finish to solidify himself in the
T35 in points.

John

shoulda done this earlier so Megan could critique my Indy picks :-)

Hmm, not my best day at prognosticating...

Nope, never contended. Congrats to Dixon on a well-driven race.

> 1 - Danica finishes 6th or better.

Nope. Probably would not have happened, even if Briscoe had stayed
in his lane in the pits.

> 2 - a Ganassi car is 2nd.

Missed by one :-)

> 3 - Graham Rahal is the best finishing ex-Champ Car driver.

Substitute "worst" for best.

> 4 - Foyt-4 overdrives a mediocre car and wrecks.

Well, it was a mediocre car that set itself on fire, but I think
it was so bad Foyt-4 didn't even try to push it.

> 5 - neither Andretti finishes (this _is_ Indy, after all)

Amazingly they both did (altho John was pretty much in the rolling
roadblock class all day).

Almost :-)

Missed by one, Gordon 4th Earnhardt 5th.

Sadler actually had a pretty good race, finished 8th. Just not
as good as Kahne.

Busch did indeed break, but got fixed & continued to the best
Toyota finish.

I claim some MVM points on this one, as Hornish was clearly in a
class of his own amoung the rookies. Only the luck of the fuel
mileage at the end brought Regan Smith to within 7 places.

A point!. 17th finisher, and moved up 2 places in the points.

race: +1
season: 13

(are we restarting the cumulative score after this race like
last year? It's fine by me if we don't...)

John, is it after this one?

I thought there were 26 points races before the Chase, and I thought we
broke after 13, and I thought this was #12. If I'm wrong in there
somewhere, please 'splain to me where I went wrong......

No, you're right, fro some reason I was thinking last year we
restarted after Charlotte.

Altho, as I say, I don't see any particular reason to break
the season. So I'm happy if we do it, and happy if we don't
bother this year.

Even after that ridiculous lead I acquired this week? :)

I still don't believe I did that.

The plan is three segments: 13, 13, chase.

It's like the NASCAR competition yellow. You have to
bunch the field from time to time. ;o)

We don' wan' no runaways 'round hyar.

I think it originally DID break after Charlotte. And I believe the
original reason was so that forgetful people (like me) could jump into
the game mid-season and still have a reasonable chance to play. :)
