Dover Tiebreaker?

Dover Tiebreaker?

Gasp!

I just noticed that pig and I are tied at 22 points each for the first
segment with one race to go... this prompts a few questions.

In the event of a tie after Dover, how is the winner determined? Do we
split all the prizes, awards and accolades between us or is there a tie
breaker of some sort? Arm wrestling or pistols at twenty paces?

Do we (as in WWF fashion) start trash talk (within the limits of RASNM
rules, of course!) now or do we wait 'til closer to race day?

Just curious...

Mike

Seems to me that when that happened before, we just split the
prize money.

But I think we should become more sophisticated. I suggest we
make race wins the first tie breaker. Second tiebreaker is most
compound predictions gotten right.

Failing that, we'll have to have a penalty kick shootout, ala
soccer (anyone see the Champions League match last weekend?).
We'll have you pick the pole winner for each race, until one
of you gets it and the other misses.

(willing to bet Marty has some completely different ideas)

Sounds like NASCAR, changing the rules in mid season :-)

Yup.

Now if you had read the rules and pointed out the need for
a tiebreaker system before the season began, we wouldn't
be in this fix. :-P

Here they are in case you'd like to help get 'em
straight for the next segment:

Marty:

Now you went and done it! You forced me to read the rules :^(. There may
be a problem. I don't know if I picked any winners or not and IF I did, I
only scored myse'f a point each for 'em. I wasn't aware that winners count
for three. I'll just wait and see what the outcome is after Dover and if
need be (I hope not!) I will go back and recheck my predictions.

Pig:

Were you aware of the winner/three-point thing? If so is that in your 22?

Durn rules! Y'all sure know how to complicate life.....

Well, one of the rules is that everybody gets to play the
game the way that they want to.

It is very noble of you to undervalue your winner predictions. :o)

Life is like that, yes, it is. :-O

I sorta think we once said you have to explicitly designate a pick
as being for the winner in order to qualify for the 3 points.

That's what I mean, a discrete winner as opposed to one of my top five
getting the win. I don't recall specifying a winner in some races. I
wouldn't have the chutzpah to claim three points if one of my top five got
the win. I guess I will have to look back and see what I actually did do.

Yup, that's the basic idea.

The standard rules are five one-point picks (+1 for
one that comes true) plus one winner pick (+3 if you
get that one right).

I don't find that very compelling ...

That sounds good to me!

Not this week. I'm definitely scraping the bottom of the
barrel for ideas right now ...

So now we have 26 rules. And counting!

I own the site on which the rulebook currently resides.

I guess it's up for sale. They say every man has his
price. :o)

The thinking there was 1) if you had made two seperate guesses
you'd have two points, so in a way they're worth more than regular
picks; and 2) I couldn't think of anything else.
