Chase Update. How'm I doing?Well, I said I would do this, so I guess I had better.
During the "pre-season" I put in my guesses as to who would be in the
Chase and such. Now, is the time to see how I am stacking up at the
mid-point.
Here is my preseason guesses and their current status.
>The Chasers ( in alphabetical order):
>Greg Biffle (the Biff makes the final cut) - Ford
Solidly in 5th place
>Kurt Busch (but not Kyle) - Dodge
Kurt is struggling in 21st, but Brother Kyle is leading the pack.
>Jeff Burton (but not Ward. Dang it!) - Chevy
Jeff is quietly doing nothing spectacular and sitting in 2nd place
>Dale Earnhart, Jr (breaking free) - Chevy
No wins yet, but he is in 3rd in the points
>Carl Edwards (Cousin Carl backflips his way to the top) - Ford
Right behind Jr in 4th...
>Jeff Gordon (as always) - Chevy
Struggling, but in 6th.
>Bobby Labonte (one for the King) - Dodge
Missed this one a mile, I really thought Bobby would have a good
year, but he is stuck back in 20th. Bobby needs to get on the stick!
>Juan Pablo Montoya (he got the hang of it last year and blows them
>away his second) - Dodge
Sitting in 17th. Not bad, I guess, but not in the Chase either.
>Ryan Newman (breaking out) - Dodge
14th. 19 points out of 12th. A couple of good runs or another win
will put him right back in the Chase.
>David Reutimann (the kid has talent) - Toyota
Ouch. 26th. I think he needs a little luck.
>Tony Stewart (SMOKIN') - Toyota
Smoke is in 11th. Not blowing them away, but staying close enough
that the others should be worried.
>Brian Vickers (got the Red Bull by the horns) - Toyota
19th. He has had some luck.... all bad. ((^:
>3 Chevys
6 Chevys
>4 Dodges
One Dodge
>2 Fords
2 Fords
>3 Toyotas
3 Toyotas
>And the winner is ....... Dale Earnhart Jr! He sends an exclamation
>point to Teresa in his breakout year.
Mid-season result - 5 of 12. Batting .500....
Of course, we won't know who the winner will be for another 23 races.
But I think I'm doing tolerable well for the mid-season checkup. (((^"
